    Fitness

PARADISE GYM - On Zicatella Beach you’ll find our favorite gym. It’s so old school - it’s right out of the Flinstones. All of the weights are made of wood and the equipment largely involves ropes, tires and baskets on pulleys filled with stones and coconuts. They also offer CrossFit, Yoga and boxing classes. So it’s worth having a peak even in you end up just having a cocktail at AGUA SALA next door.

    BABY TURTLE RELEASE

One of the most life changing experiences is to release baby sea turtles at Playa Bacoho. VIVE MAR is an organization that fights for the turtles of Puerto and teaches you about these amazing endangered animals. Every day at 5 pm you have the opportunity to release a day old sea turtle from a coconut shell for 100 pesos (~$5) with all proceeds going towards protecting and maintaining the turtle hatchery and protecting the eggs from poachers.

  • A whale breaching out of the water with a background of shoreline hills.

From December to March, Puerto Escondido is one of the best places on the planet to experience Whale watching. From Humpbacks to Orca’s - Whales are on mass migration south with their young in toe. Whether from the comfort of your terrace or up close and personal on a guided tour you can experience a magical spectacle. And for the dolphins you ask? Don’t worry, they’re here all year round! We recommend Omar, located directly below the property on Puerto Angelito. (+52) 954 559 4406.

The best surfing in all of Mexico can be found at Playa Zicatella (a 5 minute drive from Casa Nopal) where massive waves break in the mornings and evenings. Though you’ll need to be an experienced surfer as waves can often tower over 20 feet.

For those a little less adventurous, OASIS SURF SCHOOL offers long board surf lessons and surf board hire at the stunning Playa Carrizalillo where the waves and waters are far calmer.
